Derya Başer was born in 1984 in Istanbul. Her interest in music  started while she was 6. At the age of 16, she began composing.  By the time she was graduating  from Saint Joseph French High School, she decided that a career in music wouldn’t be appreciated in her social environment. In 2004, she started studying Economics at Bilkent University. During her college years, she couldn’t be apart from music so in her senior year she took elective music classes from the Bilkent University Conservatory. At the end of 2008, she started to learn sound engineering as an assisting engineer (Taşoda Sound Design and Music Production). In 2009, she was accepted into Istanbul Technical University’s Sound Engineering and Design Masters program. To have a broader perspective in music, along with her sound engineering and design classes she took  a bunch of other courses such as music history, advanced music theory, counterpoint, world music studies and electives from the Music Business Department. Along with her studies, she was an assistant engineer for live recordings (Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra), for studio engineering (Babajim Istanbul Studios) and for recording & mixing engineering (ITU MIAM) in several projects. By the time she graduated, she had engineered numerous location recordings, simultaneous recordings, and live recordings, also contributing projects as co-producer, keyboardist, percussionist, vocalist and mixed various genres of music for several projects. While she was making sound design and compositions for plays and short films, she decided to focus on her creative side in her music career. At the same time, she created compositions that involve her album. By the time searching of a different sound world, she filled her living space with many of percussion instruments, various synthesizers and keyboards, a digital drum set and acoustic cymbals. In September 2012, she set up her own recording and mixing studio.
